fam Hotels – a new definition of family holidays

We started our fam-project in 2003 and considered how to offer our families support during their holiday. The holiday- and vacation time does not automatically lead to relaxation, but phases of stress can and do happen. We help to make the family holiday an unforgettable experience for everybody!

Children as well as parents arrive in a strange environment, the usual daily routine is interrupted and the persons in charge are strangers. In addition, the expectations for the most beautiful time of the year are extremely high.

Family experiences during the holiday with children

During the holiday with children, families wish to spend their time for enjoyable experiences together, for which the time in the hectic everyday life seems always too short. They wish to tighten the family ties and improve the parents-children relationship. In the children’s hotel Mateera, numerous events invite to experience them together and to find new playmates and kindred spirits. Thereby we want to help the families to enjoy profound and genuine experiences together.

Minimize stress situations and maximize holiday quality – family holidays for everybody

Traditional family hotels offer a huge programme of organized activities. The philosophy of the fam-hotels, on the other hand, avoids the normal stress situations of young families on holiday: lack of sleep, hectic at breakfast, too few real experiences as a family.

The primary target in the family hotel Mateera is to maximize the quality of your holiday, and we simply dissolve stress situations during the family holiday by offering service for a good night’s sleep, children’s breakfast buffet, or the imagination workshop.

Make experiences possible

During the holiday, families wish to make up for the time which they lost during the hectic everyday life, in order to intensify the family ties and to strengthen the parents-children relationship.

In the children’s hotel Mateera, numerous events invite to experience them together and to find new playmates and kindred spirits. Thereby we want to help the families to enjoy profound and genuine experiences together.

The imagination workshop – experience of the mind and the senses in nature

Our child-care focuses on the elementary requirements of children. According to surveys, 78% of the children want to have playmates during the holiday, 69% want to discover nature, 60% want to have contact with animals and almost three quarters of the children want to have occasion to romp around at will.

The imagination workshop meets these wishes with experiences of nature with mind and senses. How does the forest smell? What can I make with fruits of the forest? How do I build a reservoir? Pebbles, gravel, menhir – tales and games around stones, to feed and pet animals, and sometimes muck out the stable.

Thus, the imagination workshop is an obvious contrast to the well-known children’s clubs with their programmes of handicraft, painting and games.

The initiative fam – for more family and more holiday, is continuously developing. Our guests’ ideas and their experiences in family hotels are being constantly used to adjust our offers even better to our guests’ requirements and thus to further increase our families’ holiday quality.
